Abruzzo beaches

Discover Abruzzo and its best beaches.

Abruzzo is a region of central Italy characterized by the presence of the Apennine mountains, which descending towards the coast of the Adriatic Sea enrich it with a vast amount of wonderful landscapes.

As evidence of this, there are three national parks here, internationally recognized treasures of biodiversity. The first is the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, which is the most famous and oldest protected area in Italy; followed by the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park and the Maiella National Park, which associated with the large number of medieval castles, churches and monasteries present throughout the region and the many varieties of beaches that dot the coast, make the Abruzzo is a region to be discovered.

The coast, in particular, is 133 km long and hosts several beaches that have been awarded the title of Blue Flag and Green Flag (recognition for the best beaches for children). Its beautiful lidos attract any type of visitor: from the large equipped beaches that boast all types of tourist services, to the wildest and most isolated coves, there is a proposal for every need.

Ideally divided into two parts at the height of the city of Pescara, one of the main seaside resorts in the region, the Abruzzo coast has long sandy coasts with shallow waters in the northern part, while the area south of the city boasts a transparent sea, cliffs and beaches of stones and pebbles, coves immersed in barren nature and untouched by the hand of man.
This is the case, for example, of Punta Perici, known as the little Normandy due to its rocky coast overlooking the sea, or of Spiaggia del Turchino which is located close to the cultivation of olive groves and orange groves; or again, the suggestive Le Morge beach, which houses the trabocco of the same name surrounded by nature.

On the other hand, for lovers of fine golden sand, the most famous beaches in Abruzzo include Lido di Ortona and Lido di Vasto, both in the province of Chieti, and Lido delle Rose, in the province of Teramo and extended for 10 km along the coast. Services for tourism and bathing establishments, sea with crystal clear water and gently sloping seabed make these destinations simply perfect for families with children and young people looking for relaxation and fun. Right in Lido di Vasto, for example, it is possible to practice windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Both the presence of restaurants on the seafront and that of the small overflows allow you to savor the traditional cuisine of Abruzzo: the unique result of the combination of typical mountain flavors with those of the sea.
